Mimi + Trey [St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Norman - Oklahoma Wedding Photographer]

Everyone, meet Mimi and Trey!

They are two extremely sweet people who also have the world’s best smiles and I couldn’t have been happier to photograph their wedding last month!  Their wedding day fell on National Star Wars Day (May the Fourth Be With You) so they completed the experience with a light sabers guard and Princess Leia and Hans Solo cake toppers!  Loved it!  :D

It was an extremely windy day.  That’s actually quite the an understatement.  ;)  (P.S.  Where’s Waldo?)

A messy counter is a necessary component of a well put-together bride!  ;)  Also, I think all messy counters should contain a copy of a Terry Pratchett book.  Just makes life a better place!

Mimi’s mother made both her dress and Mimi’s wedding dress by hand without a pattern.  I just think that’s the bee’s knees!  I’ve only had a small handful of brides that have worn handmade or custom dresses and I gotta say, I just think it’s a wonderful and unique thing.  Kudos!

Absolutely loved photographing in this church!  The wonderful amount of natural light pouring in really added to the sweet ambiance of the ceremony.

Such a wonderfully fun wedding party!  Thanks guys, for cracking me up the whole time we were standing out in the crazy intense wind!

Love prepared people!  When a thread came loose at the hem of Mimi’s dress during the family portraits, her mother was ready with a sewing kit to mend it in a blink of an eye!  ;)

Wasn’t Mimi just the most gorgeous bride?  And I know I mention this every single time, but I’m so in love with birdcage veils!

And Trey was quite the debonair looker, too!  ;)

Mimi and Trey have THE best smiles!  How can you not smile right back at the photo below?

Reception time!  Loved the cake setup – they bought the little cake at the top from La Baguette, and the cupcakes on the remaining tiers were made by two of Mimi’s younger brothers earlier in the day.  And they were mighty delicious, too!

Mimi made the two cake toppers herself!  I love the unique little details throughout their wedding.  And I love my crafty brides!

YESSS!  How fun are they?  All weddings should have light saber fights, by the way.  ;)

Mimi and Trey were completely made for each other, and I wish them all the best happiness in their marriage!  :)

Shealynn + Jayson [The Greens Country Club, Oklahoma City - Oklahoma Wedding Photographer]

I am so excited to share these images from a wonderfully southern wedding!  I think all Oklahoman weddings should have at least hints of southern charm.  And let me tell you, there were tons of hints along with the full blown sparkly cowboy boots that Shea wore during the reception, which totally rocked!  :)  And also for a wedding in April, we were lucky with absolutely fantastic weather!

I just love how Shealynn’s daughter looked at her once they were both decked out and looking like princesses!  :)  She was just so precious.  Every time she would pass by a mirror, she would check herself out and do a little twirl and everything.

This was the coolest part of the ceremony I think:  As a complete surprise to the Shealynn, four of her friends performed a few songs on their flutes and then she was actually  handed her own flute to perform a few songs along with her friends!  And it was simply amazing!  I love unique happenings at weddings, and I definitely haven’t seen a bride perform at her own wedding before!  Such a fun experience.

Thank you so much to Shealynn and Jayson and their families!  It was such a pleasure photographing your wedding and I wish y’all all the best in the future!  :)

Dawn + Brent [Santa Fe Historical Depot, Norman - Oklahoma Wedding Photographer]

And with this gorgeous event, wedding season officially started over at Robyn Icks Photography!  (Please excuse me while I squeal in utter excitement!!)  :)

Dawn and Brent’s wedding had tons of wonderful elements that I just adore:  lovely nature, springtime, family, love, tears, purples and blues, peacock feathers, guitars, trains and an extremely charming location.  For an April wedding, I have to say the weather actually pleasantly surprised me.  It was, hands-down, the best weather I’ve ever experienced at a wedding.  It stayed about 70 degrees and slightly overcast the whole day, which equals:  a photographer’s dream.  :)

The love Dawn and Brent have for each other, and the love that filled the air from all of their family members and friends, was just over flowing.  There were many happy tears shed, and laughter abounded.  Oh, and one story I have to tell was about the flower girl.  She was super stoked and was enthusiastically dropping the flower petals like a proper flower girl should, but when she got about a fourth way down the aisle runner she realized her basket was empty.  So she gave me a look of  “Whaaaaa?”, then gave her Dad a “What do I do look?” look, then decided to finish walking down the aisle pretending to toss the petals the rest of the way.  It was so adorable and hysterical!

Many congratulations to the two lovebirds and I wish them a most wonderful marriage!

Rachel + Jake [Bricktown, Oklahoma City - Oklahoma Engagement Portrait Photographer]

I am just crazy about these two!  They are both quick to laughter, open to fun and quirky ideas, and so delightfully laid back.  And their smiles are SO contagious!  Just about the entire time I was editing this portrait session, I just couldn’t stop smiling right back.  :)

We originally planned to meet at Will Rogers Park for their engagement session, but when I arrived at the park 20 minutes early I found that not only were the gates already locked, there was a giant Easter parade happening.  Well, that’s what I get for scheduling sessions on holidays.  Hopefully lesson learned (although this isn’t exactly the first time something similar has happened.)  But, after calling Rachel to quickly come up with another location, we decided on Bricktown and it ended up working out just splendidly!  We still found plenty of gorgeous nature, plus we had the varied cityscape that only Bricktown can provide.  So, I think all in all it ended up working out to our advantage!

Let me take a moment to point out Rachel’s fabulous yellow shoes.  LOVE!  That’s it.  Just wanted y’all to know.  ;)

I am so looking forward to Rachel and Jake’s wedding next month!  They’re both so photogenic and so very in love and as I can tell you, that is the greatest combination for a photograph!  :)

Dawn + Brent [Bricktown, Oklahoma City - Oklahoma Engagement Portrait Photographer]

We had a fantastic time down in Bricktown for Dawn and Brent’s engagement portrait session!  The weather was fantastic (it rained and was gloomy for almost an entire week after this day), we found awesome backdrops that suited their personalities wonderfully, and man are these two photogenic!  :)

I’ve known Dawn for about half my life, and have always enjoyed getting together over the years for portrait sessions.  The camera is just head-over-heels for her (as you can see!)  I am so stoked to photograph their wedding soon!  It will be at the Santa Fe Historical Depot in Norman and, weather permitting, will be outdoors.  I’m definitely crossing my fingers for a lovely spring day!  It’s going to be a whirlwind of peacock feathers, purples and blues, and lots of good company and I can’t wait.

These two are wonderful together.  Their personalities fit like a glove, and I wish them the happiest life together!
